Vol. 35 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Vesting of Cavan Estates.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he will state when the lands in the Farnham estate and the Maxwell estate, both in the County Cavan, will be vested in the tenants.

The prescribed schedule of particulars of the lands on the estates of Lord Farnham and Captain R.S.S. Maxwell in County

Cavan have been lodged in the Land Commission under the provisions of the Land Act, 1923, but it is not possible at the present stage of the proceedings to say when the lands will be vested in the tenants. The Land Commission are at present dealing with the Farnham estate, and hope within the next few months to be in a position to publish a provisional list of the lands which will vest in the Land Commission on the appointed day. There are difficult questions of drainage, turbary, etc., arising on the estate which must be settled before the provisional list can be published. The Maxwell estate has not yet reached its turn to be dealt with under the purchase proceedings of the 1923 Act, but when so reached will be dealt with as rapidly as possible.
