Vol. 35 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cavan Drainage.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state when he will be prepared to submit an estimate to the Cavan County Council for the drainage of Lough Oughter and River Erne scheme, and also for the Annalee River.

The Commissioners of Public Works are not yet in a position to say when particulars of the drainage proposal for the Rivers Erne and Annalee can be submitted to the Cavan County Council, but the investigation of the scheme is proceeding as expeditiously as possible.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that on the 22nd of May I got a promise from him that this matter would be taken into consideration at once? Is the Parliamentary Secretary really in earnest in saying that this matter has not been decided yet after five years' consideration? The matter has really been under consideration for five years.

Mr. Bourke

I think I have fully answered the Deputy's question.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that a scheme has been submitted for the Co. Monaghan to let the water from Co. Monaghan further down there to flood us?

Will the Parliamentary Secretary see that he will let that scheme go on?
