Vol. 35 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Motor Traffic Dangers.

asked the Minister for Education if he will require teachers in the secondary and primary schools to warn pupils as to the dangers arising out of motor traffic and to give instructions how to avoid such dangers.

This matter has already been receiving consideration in my Department, and it is proposed to issue a circular on the subject to managers and teachers of national schools at an early date. As regards secondary schools, there does not appear to be the same need for giving instruction in view of the age of the pupils, and the fact that many of these schools are boarding schools. Arrangements will be made, however, to issue copies of the circular to the managers of the day secondary schools in the cities and larger towns.
