Vol. 36 No. 7

Written Answers. - Eyre-Stack Estate (Co. Kerry).

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether the Land Commission have taken any steps to acquire the lands of Ballyconery, Ballybunion, Co. Kerry (Eyre-Stack Estate); if they have taken steps, how far they have progressed, and when they first started negotiations with the owner; how long have the lands been untenanted, and if there is acute congestion in the locality.

Proceedings have been instituted under the provisions of the Land Act 1923 for the acquisition of some 320 acres of the lands of Ballyconery, Mweevoo and Toehana on the Estate of Eyre Massey Stack. These lands were published in a provisional list of lands on 17th January, 1928, to which the owners objected on the grounds that certain lands claimed as tenanted lands should be included in the provisional list as untenanted lands. This objection has been disposed of and the proceedings for the acquisition of the lands are in progress.

The Land Commission are aware that congestion exists in the locality but they have no information as to how long these lands have been untenanted.
