Vol. 36 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Supreme Court Appeals.

Tomás O Maoláin

asked the Minister for External Affairs whether, in view of the act that the Executive Council are opposed to appeals from the Supreme Court brought before the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council, he will state whether it is intended to introduce proposals for legislation to amend the Constitution by the deletion of Article 66 therefrom; and, if so, when such proposals will be introduced.

It is presumed that the Deputy refers to the Proviso to Article 66, and not to the Article itself. Legislative proposals to abolish appeals to the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council are at present under consideration and will be introduced in due course.
