Vol. 36 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Housing (Gaeltacht) Act.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether he will state the number of applications which he has received for grants under the Housing (Gaeltacht) Act, 1929, from each of the following District Electoral Divisions in County Sligo:— Cliffoney South, Drumcolumb, Lissadill North, Rossinver West, Riverstown, Achonry East, Achonry West, Aclare, Banada, and Kilmacteige; and the number of grants which have been sanctioned in each of these district electoral divisions.

The segregation of the applications in the several electoral divisions mentioned would take up an appreciable amount of the time of the staff already working at high pressure. The total of applications from County Sligo is 125. As preferential treatment has had to be given to the districts with the lowest valuations and the highest proportions of Irish speakers it has not yet been practicable to deal with any large number of these applications. Those already reported upon have been found not to be eligible under the Act.
