Vol. 36 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Co. Meath Estates.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he will state the reasons why the Land Commission did not acquire the McDermott Estate near Enfield.

As the Deputy has been already informed, Mr. McDermott, a tenant on the Waterton Estate, objected to the proposed resumption of his holding by the Land Commission, and after duly hearing and considering the grounds of objection the Land Commission allowed the objection.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he will state why the Land Commission have decided to postpone proceedings to acquire the Dyas Estate, Rathcore, Enfield.

The Land Commission, having investigated the circumstances of the lands of Rathcore and considered the representations made by the owner regarding the charges to which they were liable, decided, in view of the price which they could offer, to postpone for the present the proceedings for acquisition. The matter will be reconsidered at an early date.
