Vol. 36 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Co. Galway Land Questions.

Tomás Mac Giolla Phóil

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he will state what is the present position as regards the distribution of the Lynch McDonagh Estate (Kilmurray and Ballinakellew).

Schemes for the division of the lands of Kilmurray and Ballynakellew are in course of preparation.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that the people who are grazing these lands were instructed to take their stock in in November, 1929, in order that the lands would be distributed?

No. The stock is there still.

That is my information.

Tomás Mac Giolla Phóil

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether the Land Commission propose acquiring the lands known as Keeraun Farm. Cloghanover, Headford, for distribution among the uneconomic tenants in this village.

The lands of Keeraun which were purchased under the Land Purchase Acts were gazetted under the provisions of the Land Act, 1923, with a view to their acquisition. The owner has applied for an alternative holding and his application is at present under consideration.

Is it not a fact that the owner of the land is living in America and that the land has been let to graziers for the last ten years?

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether he will state if the Land Commission received a petition from the residents in the village of Cloughbrack, Newbridge (Netriville Estate), Co. Galway, in June, 1928, regarding turbary in the Darcy Estate, Newforest, and, if so, will he state what steps have since been taken in the matter.

If the Deputy will be good enough to supply the names of the petitioners I will have inquiries made into the matter.
