Vol. 37 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Relief of Congestion (Kildare).

asked the Minister for Land and Fisheries whether the Land Commission propose to acquire for the relief of congestion the lands of Knockaulin, on the Cornwall Estate, the lands of Usk, on the estate of James Dixon, and the lands of Grange-Beg, on the estate of George Grange, all in the Ballyshannon-Kilcullen area, County Kildare; and, if not, whether the Land Commission propose to acquire other lands in the neighbourhood for division amongst the congest-applicants whose names were furnished to the Department on the 20th March, 1925.

The lands of Knockaulin, to which the Deputy appears to refer, comprise tenanted holdings on the estate of F.V. Cornwall, which are the subject of proceedings under the Land Act, 1923. The question of retaining and resuming the holdings will be considered in due course, but at the present stage of the proceedings it is not possible to state what action will be taken in the matter.

As the Deputy has been already informed, it is not proposed to take any action for the acquisition of the lands of Usk, held by James Dixon, and Grange-Beg held by George Grange, both of which have been purchased under the Land Purchase Acts.
