Vol. 37 No. 7

Personal Explanation.

In connection with a statement made by Deputies in the House I mentioned the name of Deputy Davin. It was with regard to retrogression and scenes that might take place on St. Patrick's Day if publichouses opened. I understood that these remarks were uttered by him last night, but on looking up the Official Report I find that he dissociated himself from the remarks, and I wish to withdraw that reference to Deputy Davin.

I am glad to know that Deputy Mullins acknowledges having misinterpreted me. Whatever I may have said on this matter last night cannot be removed from the records of this House, and I am not prepared to withdraw one word or sentence of what I said. I gladly accept what Deputy Mullins has said, and in turn I withdraw an allegation I made against him here this morning of having uttered a falsehood.

The Dáil adjourned at 2 p.m. until Wednesday, 4th March.
