Vol. 37 No. 8

Ceisteanna.—Questions. Oral Answers. - Relief Schemes (South Mayo).

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he will state what schemes are at present being carried out under the Relief Schemes Grant by the Irish Land Commission in South Mayo, and, further, what other schemes, if any, are being considered by him under this head.

The particulars requested by the Deputy are not available as the Land Commission returns are kept by counties. Works which have been or are about to be undertaken out of funds provided by the Relief Schemes Vote in County Mayo consist of the repair and extension of bog and accommodation roads and the construction of drains and fences. The majority of these works were started under previous Relief Votes.

When will we have this information?

What information?

The information asked for in the question?

I have given the Deputy the information he has asked for.

Have you not stated that such information was not available?

The Deputy asked what schemes were at present being carried out in South Mayo. I cannot distinguish in the Land Commission between schemes for South or North Mayo; the Land Commission returns are kept by counties.

That means that I will have to put another question covering the whole county before I can get an answer.

What information does the Deputy want?

It is set out in my question. I want to know what schemes have been started in my constituency by the Land Commission under the Relief Schemes Grant. I think that is a very definite question and it should be very easily answered.

I have explained the difficulty; the Land Commission returns are kept by counties.

When may we hope to get these returns?

The Deputy has not asked for them.
