Vol. 37 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Division of Joly Estate (Offaly).

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries to state whether a division scheme has been prepared and sanctioned in connection with the Joly Estate, Clonbollogue, Offaly, and if so, when same is likely to be put into operation.

The Land Commission have recently divided 1,872 acres on the Joly estate, but it has not yet been possible to make any arrangements for the disposal of the remaining bog and cutaway bog, comprising about 600 acres. The question of the acquisition of other lands on this estate is at present under consideration.

Will the Parliamentary Secretary give an assurance that the position of individuals with existing turbary rights will be sympathetically considered before the whole scheme is finally sanctioned?
