Vol. 37 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Flooding at Letterbarrow, Co. Donegal.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he will state what steps, if any, are being taken in regard to the flooding of the lands of Andrew McKelvey, Drimboarty, Letterbarrow, Co. Donegal, due to breaches in the embankment of the Eanymore River.

Mr. Andrew McKelvey is a tenant purchaser on the estate of the Marquis Conyngham. His holding was vested in him under the Land Purchase Acts on the 13th November, 1919. The district is a mountainous one and is subject to sudden flooding during heavy rainfall. The cost of any effective measures to control the floods would be out of all proportion to the value of the lands and the Land Commission do not propose to take any action in the matter at present.
