Vol. 37 No. 18

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Labourers' Cottages.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether in view of the dissatisfaction that prevails amongst rate payers and those responsible for the administration of the affairs of the County Councils regarding the financial burden arising from obligations incurred under the Labourers Cottages Acts; and, on the other hand, the desire of a large number of the tenants of such cottages to become absolute owners thereof, the Minister will arrange for the appointment of a Departmental Committee to examine every phase of the subject, including the present condition of the cottages as a whole, the cost of repairs, and the efficiency of the system by which repairs are effected, and to report within a fixed period.

I would refer the Deputy to the reply given to Deputy Morrissey on this subject on the 11th March, 1931.
