Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Expenditure on Land Improvements in Congested District Areas.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he will state the amount spent on land improvement in the congested districts area during each of the past three years.

The expenditure by the Land Commission for the benefit and improvement of estates in the congested districts Counties of Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Roscommon, Sligo, Clare, Cork and Kerry during each of the past three years was as follows:—

Year ended 31st March, 1928

£172,498

Year ended 31st March, 1929

£119,825

Year ended 31st March, 1930

£120,919

In addition to these amounts the Land Commission expended on special improvement works out of the Vote for the Relief of Unemployment and Distress £43,898 in the year ended 31st March, 1928, and £5,062 (the residue of the grant) in the year ended 31st March, 1929.
