Vol. 37 No. 18

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Construction of Bog Road. (Donegal.)

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether the Land Commission are now prepared to undertake, out of moneys provided by the Relief Schemes Vote, the construction of a bog road in the Dooish (Ballybofey) area of County Donegal, in connection with which an extensively signed memorial was transmitted to the Land Commission over two years ago.

It is not proposed to undertake the construction of the road referred to out of moneys provided by the Vote for the Relief of Unemployment and Distress. There are no further funds available for expenditure by the Land Commission out of this Vote.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that this matter was previously raised in 1929? At that time the Minister wrote to inform me that owing to the fact that the money that was allocated had been expended they could not then undertake the work. Surely under the Relief Scheme Vote now it could be undertaken seeing that it is an absolutely necessary work.

There is no further money available.

I must say that the district is very badly treated. We were told the very same thing in regard to this matter on the occasion of the last Vote.
