I propose to accept the amendment which the Seanad has inserted:—
Before Section 47 a new section inserted as follows:—
"The Mussels, Periwinkles and Cockles (Ireland) Act, 1898, shall hereafter be included in the group of Acts which may be cited as the Fisheries Acts, 1842 to 1925."
This Bill repeals the Agriculture Act of 1899. It was found on re-examining the Act of 1899 that the following sub-section occurred in Section 30, sub-section (2):—"The Mussels, Periwinkles and Cockles (Ireland) Act, 1898, may be cited with the Fisheries Acts, 1842 to 1899."
The people in charge of fisheries still believe that the Act should be cited with the Fisheries Acts, 1842 to 1925. There is no reason why the Minister for Agriculture should have anything to do with the repealing of it, and for the sake of peace we agreed to insert in the Bill a new sub-section to the following effect: "The Mussels, Periwinkles and Cockles (Ireland) Act, 1898, shall hereafter be included in the group of Acts which may be cited as the Fisheries Acts, 1842 to 1925." That ensures that that Act is not repealed.
