Vol. 38 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Intermediate and Leaving Certificate Examinations.

asked the Minister for Education if he will state the number of pupils who sat for the Intermediate Certificate and the Leaving Certificate examinations in the years 1929 and 1930; the number of pupils who qualified in mathematics, Irish, English, and history and geography in the above examinations.

The following table gives the numbers of candidates who sat for the Intermediate and Leaving Certificate Examinations in the two years named, and the numbers who obtained the necessary percentage (40 per cent.) of marks to pass in each of the subjects mentioned. In addition to these a number of other candidates at the Intermediate Certificate Examinations obtained sufficient marks (over 20 per cent., but less than 40 per cent.) in one or more of these subjects to have them included in determining the candidates' pass or failure at the examination generally.
