Vol. 38 No. 13

Auctioneers, Valuers, House and Estate Agents Bill, 1931—First Stage.

I ask leave to introduce a Bill entitled the Auctioneers, Valuers, House and Estate Agents Bill, 1931.

It appears to me that this Bill ought to be referred to the Examiner of Private Bills before the Second Reading in accordance with Standing Order 52 (Private Business). When is it proposed to take the Second Stage?

I will ask that the Second Stage be taken on Friday, 29th inst.

Would the Deputy be agreeable to postponing it to a later date? This Bill requires to be looked into, I think, from the point of view of people other than auctioneers.

The Bill has been circulated privately to every member of the Dáil and Seanad in the last fortnight, and I think that ten days ought to be ample time to inquire into it, and to prepare amendments, if necessary.

There will be no amendments considered on the 29th. It will be a question of whether Deputies will vote for or against the Bill. Upon the passing of the Second Stage the Bill may be referred to a Joint Committee in the light of the Examiner's report.

Ordered: That the Bill be referred to the Examiner of Private Bills for report.
Second Stage ordered for Friday 29th May.
