Vol. 39 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Guiding Light in Castletownbere.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he is now prepared to consider favourably the erection of a suitable guiding light in Castletownbere Harbour for the safety of human life and property?

Castletownbere Harbour is in the control of the Cork County Council, which derives a revenue from the port. The lighting of the approach to the harbour is chiefly of importance to trading vessels, but if the County Council will put before me proposals for erecting a light and will satisfy me that proper arrangements will be made for maintaining the light, if erected, I will be prepared to consider the matter of State assistance towards the capital cost.
