Vol. 39 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Widows' and Orphans' Fund.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is now prepared to give the result of the inquiry ordered by the Dáil into the question of pensions for widows and orphans.

I would refer the Deputy to the replies given to previous questions on this subject. The actuarial investigation has not yet been completed.

Would the President state when this investigation will be completed? I really feel a responsibility in the matter, and I certainly would not have moved the amendment if I thought the investigation would have taken so long.

The work in connection with the actuarial investigation is proceeding, but recently the actuary indicated that the preparation of his report involved a great deal of work and would take a considerable time.

Would the President give any period meaning to the words "considerable time"?

I did not hear what the Deputy said.

Would the President indicate any definite time?

I could not possibly do that.
