Vol. 39 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Building Costs under Gaeltacht Housing Scheme.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he will state what is the estimated average cost of building a new house of three, four or five rooms, respectively, under the Gaeltacht Housing Scheme.

The quotations under the scheme of joint purchase arranged in pursuance of Section 12 of the Act are at present under consideration. The average cost of materials for three-roomed, four-roomed and five-roomed houses will be approximately £65, £95, and £110, respectively. The cost of skilled labour would average from £40, £50 and £60, respectively, upwards. The stones and unskilled labour are ordinarily supplied by the applicant himself.
