Vol. 39 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Gannon Estate (Co. Meath).

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he will state why some fifty tenants on the Gannon Estate, Carranstown, Balivor, Co. Meath, were sold turf banks by the Land Commission at a very high price, without any provision being made for a "spread bank"; and further, if he is aware that those tenants are ready to pay for that right if it is provided.

It was not possible, owing to the narrow width of the bog acquired by the Land Commission on the Gannon Estate, to provide a "spread bank" for the majority of the allottees. The Land Commission are not in a position to make any better arrangements in the case.
