Vol. 40 No. 16

Ceisteanna.—Questions. Oral Answers. - Annuities on Tipperary Estate.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he will state why the standard purchase annuities fixed upon the tenants of the McCann and others estate, Tipperary North, described as yearly tenants in the list of holdings to be vested, are based upon the original rents payable by the tenants instead of the abated rents of 14s. in the £ stated to have been fixed by the Land Court.

The standard purchase annuities in respect of the non-judicial tenancies on the McCann estate were fixed in accordance with the provisions of the Land Acts, 1923-1931, on the basis of the rents returned by the owners of the estate, which were 20 per cent. less than the original rents. The abated rents referred to by the Deputy were determined by the Judicial Commissioner as the basis for the calculation of payment in lieu of rent and compounded arrears of rent.
