Vol. 40 No. 16

Ceisteanna.—Questions. Oral Answers. - Port and Harbours Tribunal.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state when it is proposed to take action in accordance with the recommendations of the Port and Harbours Tribunal.

I regret that I cannot at present indicate a date for the introduction of legislation founded on the Tribunal's recommendations.

In view of the fact that a great number of the recommendations contained in this report would be very beneficial to the smaller harbours, and also by reason of the fact that some of these smaller harbours are encountering very great difficulty in carrying on under the present conditions, will the Minister introduce this legislation very soon?

I have considered that. I tried to segregate the items in the report which I regarded as noncontroversial, but the difficulty is the accumulation of other legislation which is regarded as more urgent.
