Vol. 40 No. 21

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Erection of Colleges in Galway.

asked the Minister for Education whether, in view of the unemployment prevailing in Galway, he will endeavour to expedite the schemes for the erection of the Training College at Taylor's Hill, Galway, and the College at Furbo, and when building operations will be begun.

Everything possible is being done to make suitable provision for these two colleges. Legal difficulties have delayed the acquisition of a site for the Preparatory College for boys which it is proposed to set up in Connacht. A contract has been made for the foundations and structural steel work of the proposed new Training College for Women in Galway, and it is hoped to commence work on the building at an early date.

Would I be in order in asking the Minister to take steps to ensure that Irish materials will be used in the renovation of these colleges?
