Vol. 40 No. 21

Written Answers. - Dáil Eireann Loan Subscription.

asked the Minister for Finance whether Mr. John Brennan, Lisphelim, Curraghboy, Co. Roscommon, forwarded to his Department four years ago the receipt he got for his subscription to the Dáil Eireann (Internal) Loan. 1919-20, and why he has not been repaid, and if it is now intended to repay him.

asked the Minister for Finance if Mr. John Corrigan (Pat), Creevy, Lisacul, Ballaghadereen, has sent to his Department a statement signed by the Collector in his parish that he subscribed £1 Os. Od. to the Dáil Eireann (Internal) Loan, 1919-20, and when it is intended to repay this man.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state when it is proposed to repay the following subscribers to the Dáil Eireann Loan, 1919-20, in Co. Roscommon: Mr. Peter Fallon, Derrycahill, Dysart, Co. Roscommon; Mr. John Lynch (Junr.), Derrycahill, Ballyforan, Ballinasloe; Mr. Michael Fallon, Garrynagran, Dysart, Ballinasloe; Mr. Martin Kelly, Derrycahill, Ballyforan, Ballinasloe; Mr. Martin Donnellan, Coolatubber, Ballyforan, Ballinasloe; Mr. Thos. Kelly, Derrycahill, Ballyforan, Ballinasloe; Mr. Bernard Menton, Bushypool, Loughawn, Dysart, Ballinasloe; Mr. Patrick Cunningham, Loughawn, Dysart, Ballinasloe; Mr. Willie Fallon, Miltown, Dysart, Ballinasloe; Mr. Patrick Kelly, Carrlariff, Dysart; Mr. Michael Kelly, Ternaghbeg, Dysart; and Mr. James Mulligan, Loughawn, Dysart.

The Deputy will, I hope, appreciate that the investigation which would be necessary in order to enable me to reply to these questions would divert the energies of the staff of the Branch concerned from their normal task of hastening the progress of repayment of subscriptions. I may say, however, that the examination of claims which were lodged before the expiration of the prescribed time is proceeding as expeditiously as possible.
