Vol. 40 No. 22

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Burncourt Lands (Tipperary).

Mr. Hayes

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he will state what is the present position with regard to the two farms at Kilroe and Shanballagh, near Burncourt, Cahir, Co. Tipperary (area about 320 statute acres), from which the late Mr. William Galvin was evicted, and if, his sons having got alternative holdings, he will now proceed to have these lands in the hands of the Irish Land Commission divided, so as to meet urgent local claims, and if in the division he will see that all the applications of disemployed workers in the area will receive due consideration.

The lands of Kilroe on the Charteris Estate which appear to include the lands on that townland formerly in the occupation of the late William Galvin have been acquired by the Land Commission and allotted. The lands of Shanballagh formerly in the occupation of the late William Galvin comprise the holding of Mrs. Susan Colclough on the Pole Carew Estate which has now been resumed by the Land Commission and a scheme for its division has been settled and will be put into operation shortly.
