Vol. 40 No. 22

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of Meath Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if his attention has been called to the Bective Abbey Estate (Martin Estate); and, if so, is it his intention to acquire these lands.

There are no proceedings before the Land Commission for the acquisition of the lands at Bective to which the Deputy refers.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he will state when the division of the Rathcarran Estate, near Navan, will take place.

The question of the acquisition of the lands at Rathcarran to which the Deputy refers is still under consideration by the Land Commission.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he will state the position of the following lands on the Rotheram Estate, in the Oldcastle, Co. Meath, area: Crossdrum, Newtown, and Knocklough.

A price has been fixed for acquisition by the Land Commission of the lands of Newtown, 213 acres, and Knocklough, 335 acres, on the Rotheram Estate, and a scheme in respect of the division of these lands is at present under consideration.

The lands of Crossdrum to which the Deputy appears to refer are tenanted lands containing 945 acres held by the executors of Edward Rotherham, deceased, on the estate of W.L. Naper. This holding vested in the Land Commission on the Appointed Day and is at present in course of inspection.
