Vol. 40 No. 24

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Killinkere and Murmod Drainage Scheme.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he will now state the position with regard to the Killinkere and Murmod Drainage Scheme (Registered No. 57), and what is the likelihood of the scheme being commenced during the coming summer.

Mr. Bourke

The Commissioners of Public Works are considering this proposal for inclusion in a comprehensive drainage scheme for the River Blackwater. The Blackwater scheme is a large and important project requiring careful consideration and lengthy investigations with which the Commissioners are proceeding. It is not possible to state at present whether or not works can be commenced during the coming summer. When the Commissioners shall have arrived at a decision, they will communicate the result to the councils and Deputies of the counties concerned.
