Vol. 41 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Encouraging Exports of Manufactured Goods.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce what steps, if any, have been or are to be taken to encourage the export of Free State manufactured goods, and, if so, if he will indicate what has been or is to be done in that direction.

The growth of exports of manufactured goods will be stimulated by the opportunity that will be given to Saorstát factories, when secured the home market and an increased output, to reduce their costs of production. Enterprise on the part of the manufacturers themselves will be the main factor required to develop the export trade, the conditions of which vary with goods of different classes.

My Department and the representatives of the Saorstát abroad are at the service of every manufacturer anxious to expand the export side of his business.
