Vol. 42 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Drainage of Lough Gara.

asked the Minister for Finance whether any scheme has been approved for the drainage of Lough Gara, and, if not, whether such a scheme is still under consideration.

In pursuance of a petition received under the Arterial Drainage Act, 1925, the Commissioners of Public Works are investigating the possibility of formulating a drainage scheme for the Lough Gara area. The district has been inspected by an engineer and a land valuer is at present engaged on making a detailed valuation of the lands affected, but a considerable time must yet elapse before a decision can be reached.

Am I to infer from that answer that there is no chance of any work being started this summer?

The Deputy is perfectly correct.
