Vol. 43 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Arran Islands Kelp Tester.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he can state the reason why the services of Mr. J. St. George Lucas as kelp tester at Kilronan, Arran Islands, were dispensed with after two years of satisfactory service, and if he will state the person or persons appointed as his successor or successors.

Mr. Lucas was employed as one of the temporary kelp analysts in 1930 and 1931 owing to a shortage of qualified chemists for this work. This season there was no difficulty in obtaining fully qualified chemists and the necessity to employ Mr. Lucas did not arise.
