Vol. 43 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - The Civil Service.

asked the President if it is a fact, as alleged by a Fianna Fáil Deputy, that the Government in certain instances had to meet and deal with an unsympathetic Civil Service; if so, will he indicate what these instances were; and, further, will he explain by what process the Government were fast welding into a national mould the alleged unsympathetic Civil Service.

The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative, and the remaining parts do not, therefore, arise.

The negative does not include that what follows in the question was alleged by a Fianna Fáil Deputy?

I did not hear the Deputy.

I am told that the answer to the first part of my question is in the negative. The negative does not cover the statement I made —that what I have referred to was alleged by a Fianna Fáil Deputy.

I know nothing about the alleged statements of anybody.

No, that is right.
