Vol. 43 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork Airship Station.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state what his intentions are regarding the disposal of the buildings and lands at Ballyquirk Airship Station at Killeagh. Co. Cork, on which over thirty well constructed brick houses are erected, with other substantial works, and if he will state approximately (1) how much money was originally spent on this work; (2) the probable cost of removal of the concrete emplacements and other structures in the event of surrender, together with the compensation to be paid to the landowners concerned for destruction to land; (3) if he will consider, in view of the housing shortage, the advisability of effecting necessary repairs to the large number of houses on these lands and letting them with suitable allotments to smallholders and labourers locally.

Particulars as to the expenditure on the buildings at Killeagh Airship Station are not available. The lands are in process of surrender to the owners, and their future use is accordingly not a matter for the Commissioners of Public Works.

The question of compensation payments in lieu of reinstatement of the lands will fall for settlement between the owners and the Commissioners.
