Vol. 44 No. 5

In Committee on Finance. - Vote No. 9—Commissions and Special Inquiries.

I move:—

Go ndeontar suim ná raghaidh thar £2,720 chun slánuithe na suime is gá chun íoctha an Mhuirir a thiocfaidh chun bheith iníoctha i rith na bliana dar críoch an 31adh lá de Mhárta, 1922, chun Tuarastail agus Costaisí eile Coimisiún, Coistí agus Fiosrúchán Speisialta.

That a sum not exceeding £2,720 be granted to complete the sum necessary to defray the Charge which will come in course of payment during the year ending on the 31st day of March, 1933, for the Salaries and other Expenses of Commissions, Committees and Special Inquiries.

Mr. Dillon and Mr. Flinn rose.

I was only going to ask the information you probably are about to give.

Your amazing capacity to anticipate me is edifying. I have not the vaguest idea what the Deputy would like to know, but I will be most happy to help him.

The Parliamentary Secretary begins with impertinence and ends with pseudo politeness.

Pseudo or Hugo?

Both are equally obnoxious to me. I was going to ask the Minister if he would be good enough to say what Commission these moneys are going to be required for, or if he is in a position to anticipate them. Are the moneys required for such Commissions as he may attempt to set up during the current financial year?

The Central Savings Commission, Civil Service Compensation Board, Committees of Inquiry into the position of the National Teachers in the Gaeltacht, Irish Manuscript Commission and Commissions and Inquiries not specifically provided for. I think that covers everything possible.

Vote put and agreed to.

Vote 45. (Office of the Minister for Education.) It has been customary to take these Votes on other occasions together, and I do not know whether the House desires to follow that practice now— it is a matter for the House to decide. I presume they will be all taken together.
