Vol. 44 No. 7

Written Answers. - Old Age Pension Clerks.

asked the Minister for Finance if he was aware that the duties of clerks to Old Age Pension Committees have been increased as a result of the operation of the Old Age Pensions Act, 1932, and whether in view of their small remuneration it is intended to increase their salary or grant them bonus for the increased services.

I am not aware that there has been any increase which is likely to be permanent in the duties of the Clerks to Old Age Pension Committees or Sub-Committees as a result of the passing of the Old Age Pensions Act, 1932. In the circumstances, I am not prepared to authorise an increase in the salaries payable to the Clerks or to sanction the payment of a bonus to them.
