Vol. 44 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions Oral Answers. - Importation of Dutiable Articles.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state whether any licences authorising the importation without payment of duty of any article or commodity ordinarily liable to the payment of duty have been issued from the 1st April last up to the 15th October, 1932; and, if so, if he will state in each case (a) the name of the licensee; (b) the name of the article or commodity; (c) the conditions governing the issue of the licence, and (d) the quantity and value of the article or commodity imported since the issue of the licence.

The reply to the first part of the question is in the affirmative; in regard to the second part of the question, the preparation of a return setting out the particulars requested in respect of each licence would involve an expenditure of public money and official time which does not seem warranted.
