Vol. 44 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Butter Bounty.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if creameries were paid the butter bounty for all butter exported from and including the 15th July last and, if not, when the bounty on such butter commenced to operate; further whether the bounty on farmers' butter and factory butter was paid from the same date.

It is assumed that the question refers to subsidies payable out of the Emergency Vote in consequence of the British import duties placed on Saorstát butter. The position is that, on the imposition of these duties, the Government made arrangements to counteract their effects by means of subsidies, which were paid on butter exported on and after the 15th July, the date from which the duties were imposed.

All claims for subsidies on dairy produce exported up to the 30th September in respect of which the required conditions have been complied with have already been paid or will be paid in the course of a few days, and the October claims will be dealt with as speedily as possible.
