Vol. 44 No. 12

Question on the Adjournment.

I wish to give notice, a Chinn Comhairle, that I shall raise on the Motion for the Adjournment, the matter of the report of a meeting held in the city of Dublin last night at which, referring to Deputy Cosgrave, one of the speakers is reported to have said: "No matter what anybody says to the contrary, while we have fists, hands and boots to use, and guns, if necessary, there shall be no free speech for traitors." And another: "The policeman who put his head between Mr. Cosgrave's head and the hands of angry Irishmen might as well keep his head at home." I shall raise it for the purpose of asking the President to make a statement as to the powers he has enabling him to prevent such conduct and what steps he intends to take in the matter.
