Vol. 45 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Displays of Saorstát Produce.

asked the Minister for External Affairs if there are at present any Saorstát officials in the High Commissioner's Office in London whose time is devoted to the display of Saorstát produce in various centres in Great Britain, and, if so, if he will state where such displays of Saorstát produce have been located for the past three months; have any reports been received on the result of such displays, and, if so, what was the nature of such reports.

The officials of the trade section of the High Commissioner's Office and the three trade inspectors devote some portion of their time in arranging displays of Saorstát produce at suitable centres. No officer is exclusively employed on display work. The following is a list of the displays during the past three months, namely:—

3rd to 9th September, 1932—Bakers and Confectioners Exhibition, London.

17th to 23rd September, 1932—International Grocers Exhibition, London.

Both of these exhibitions are held under the auspices of the Grocery, Provision and Allied Trades Association.

3rd to 8th October, 1932—Rochester Exhibition.

Organised by the Medway Chamber of Commerce, comprising the towns of Rochester, Chatham and Gillingham.

18th to 31st October—London Dairy Show.

Held under the auspices of the British Dairy Farmers Association.

21st to 29th October—Fruit Show, Birmingham.

29th to 30th November—Albert Hall Fair—a Christmas Fair.

Reports on these displays have been furnished. It has never been possible to estimate the value of the concrete results obtained from such exhibitions.
