asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state what was the amount of grants allocated from Central Funds to the County of Offaly and expended during the years 1931 and 1932, respectively, under the following headings: Agricultural Grant; allocation from Road Fund; National Tuberculosis Grant; Vocational Education Grant; Department of Agriculture Grants; grants to mental hospitals, doctors, nurses, sanitary officers' salaries and any other grants.
I am taking the two questions together. I am having the statistical information requested by the Deputy in Questions 2 and 3 inserted in the Official Report, so far as the particulars required are available in my Department. The items in the questions relating to grants in the charge of the Department of Education and the Department of Agriculture may be obtained by addressing the Ministers concerned. I may add that the bulk of the statistical information desired is given in respect of the financial years 1930-31 and 1931-32, as figures for the calendar years 1931 and 1932 are in most cases not readily available.

Of the County share in the Agricultural Grant, a sum of £29,614 8s. 8d. was issued in respect of the year 1930-31 and a sum of £41,890 4s. 2d. in respect of the year 1931-32. The balance of the grant in each of these years was absorbed in the Guarantee Fund.
A relief Grant of £2,000 was allocated to Laoighis County in respect of Mountrath water supply scheme carried out by the Board of Health and Public Assistance. £1,500 was paid in the year ended 31st March, 1931, and the balance (£500) during the year ended 31st March, 1932.
