Vol. 45 No. 7

Auctioneers, Valuers, House and Estate Agents Bill, 1932.

There is on the Order Paper to-day, as the House will see, the Second Stage of the Auctioneers Bill. Since I got leave to introduce that Bill the question of procedure has arisen. It has been pointed out to me that the Committee on Procedure and Privileges discussed this general question as to what should happen a Bill which had gone a certain distance in one Parliament, and the question of completing it came up in another Parliament, and they came to a decision on a certain resolution which ought to be put forward in the first place. It seems the best thing for me to do is to ask the House to-day for leave to withdraw this Bill, and move that resolution, and then re-introduce the Bill next session. I propose to ask the House for leave to do that, so that the Bill may get the advantage of having complied already with Standing Orders. I ask the House to give me leave to withdraw the Bill for the present, to move the resolution which has been prepared later, and I ask leave to re-introduce the Bill.

At the commencement of public business.
