Vol. 45 No. 7

Private Business. - Road Traffic Bill, 1932—First Stage.

I would like to get leave to move the First Reading of the Road Traffic Bill, 1932. It is an Act to amend and consolidate the law relating to mechanically propelled vehicles, the regulation and control of road traffic, and the use of mechanically propelled vehicles for the carriage of passengers, to make provision for compulsory insurance against liabilities arising from negligent driving of mechanically propelled vehicles, and to make provision for other matters connected with the matters aforesaid.

Why was not the title of this Bill in the Order Paper to-day? Has the title only been got within the last hour?

There were some important amendments under consideration and a decision was only arrived at to-day. I thought I would have a decision on the matter yesterday, but it happened that I did not get it.

Is not this one of the matters that had best be left over until we find out when will the House rise this evening?

Can the Minister say when he will be able to circulate the Bill?

It will probably be within a couple of weeks, anyway.

Leave granted.
Second Stage fixed for 1st February, 1933.
