Vol. 46 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Electricity Supply.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that considerable dissatisfaction prevails in Mayo with regard to the delay in linking up the town of Charlestown with the Electricity Supply Board system, and if he will make representations to the Board in the matter, and if lack of capital is causing the delay whether he will make representations to the Minister for Finance to supply the sums required for that and other extensions in the county.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that considerable dissatisfaction prevails in Tipperary because of the delay in linking up the town of Borrisokane, County Tipperary, with the Electricity Supply Board system, and if he will make representations to the Board in the matter, and if lack of capital is causing the delay, whether he will make representations to the Minister for Finance to supply the sums required for that and other extensions in the county.

I propose to take Nos. 10 and 11 together.

I have no information regarding the dissatisfaction which is alleged to prevail in Mayo and Tipperary, but I may say that it is primarily a matter for the Electricity Supply Board to decide whether a particular town should be linked up with the Shannon Hydro Electric system. I have no reason to suppose that there is any lack of capital.
