Vol. 46 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Division of Cork County—Labourers Acts.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he is aware that the Cork County Board of Health and the three Committees of the Board have requested the division of the county into three separate areas for the purposes of the Labourers Acts; and if in order to expedite the erection of several hundred labourers' cottages in County Cork he will announce a decision on the matter.

The reply to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. Under the Housing (Financial and Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1932, the area of charge for expenses incurred or to be incurred by boards of health in the execution of the Labourers Acts as from the 1st proximo will be in the county health district of such board. I informed the Cork County Council to this effect on the 6th January last, and that I had no power to comply with the request to divide the county into three separate areas for the purposes of the Labourers Acts.
