Vol. 46 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sweepstakes Money for Wexford Hospitals.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if there is any prospect of making available at an early date the allocation of money due from the Hospitals Sweepstakes to the County Wexford Board of Health so that the schemes of hospital building and improvement in the county could be started without delay and thus give employment to many now unemployed, and also ease the demands for home assistance on the County Board of Health.

The amount allocated by the Minister was notified to the local authority so long ago as 12th July last. Any delays that have since arisen are due to the attitude adopted by the local authority in regard to the amount of the grant and local difficulties which arose in connection with the employment of architects. Payment on foot of the amount allocated will be made on architects' certificates as the work proceeds, in accordance with plans yet to be approved.
