Vol. 46 No. 11

Public Services (Temporary Economies) Bill, 1933—First Stage.

Leave granted to introduce a Bill entitled an Act to make or provide for the making of deductions from remuneration payable during the financial year beginning on the 1st day of April, 1933, and either payable out of public moneys (whether by statute or otherwise) or fixed by or under statute or payable by virtue of a statutory power to employ officers or servants or payable by bodies to whom grants are made out of public moneys and also to make or provide for the making of deductions from certain classes of grants payable during the said financial year out of public moneys, and to provide for other matters connected with the matters aforesaid (Minister for Finance).
Second Stage fixed for Wednesday, 29th March.

When will the Bill be circulated?

That will not leave very much time for its consideration.

It is pressing.

Is it required to balance the Budget also?

Certainly. The Deputy surely does not think it is vexatious.

If we find that the time for consideration of the measure is too short, will the Minister entertain favourably an application to postpone the Second Reading?
