Vol. 46 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Roscrea Blind Pension Appeals.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state why pensions for blindness have not been granted to Patrick Pierce, Shinrone, and Philip Bergin, Ballycleary, Roscrea, and if he is aware that medical certificates of inability to work were furnished and both were passed by the local Pensions Committee for pensions of 10/- weekly.

Appeals were received in November and December last against the decisions of the local committees awarding pensions in these cases. It is not possible to arrange for immediate inspection by the Departmental Medical Inspector, but forms of certificate are being issued to the claimants who are being given the option of attending before the County Ophthalmic Surgeon who will examine their eyesight and supply a report. When such report is received a decision can be given.
