Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Unemployment Benefit Claim.
On a claim which he made on the 28th December last, Mr. Richard O'Rourke of Springvalley, Enniscorthy, received 25 days' unemployment benefit. Those payments exhausted all the contributions to his credit in an account which he opened with the Unemployment Fund on the 2nd July, 1932. In filling up the form, which was the starting point of that account, he answered in the negative a question as to whether he had previously obtained an Unemployment Book. His answer has since been proved to have been incorrect, for he had obtained a previous Unemployment Book and opened an account under the name of "Richard Rourke" in 1929 to which 28 stamps were affixed. Subject to the statutory conditions, he is entitled to further benefits in respect of those contributions, but he has furnished evidence of unemployment for one day only subsequent to the receipt by him of the 25 days' benefit already mentioned. Payment will be made for this day on application to the Branch Manager. There are further contributions due but unpaid in respect of former employment. Legal proceedings were taken against the defaulting employer but the sheriff has so far been unable to realise the decree which was obtained.
